As of Thursday 20th May 2010, the Goverment has announced that HIPS have been suspended with immediate effect, pending primary legislation to abolish them. This means that sellers and estate agents are no longer required to have or to provide copies of HIPs.
It will still be a requirement to obtain an EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) and this should be commissioned before a property is marketed.
